Dear Sir,Madam,
I am writing an article about cloning and am struck by the silence of consumers. In part, I understand from the EFSA communications advisor, that this is due to the fact that the effort to involve publicity campaigns will kickstart in November/December. The article I am compiling deals with differences in attitude (as perceived at this moment) between the US and EU public.
I heard that several associations have already voiced their opinion a few months ago. Would be able to fill me in as to what they are thinking or put me into contact with the right people? I am on the lookout mostly for associations that have grassroots input on their opinions.
I have been in contact with the only organnisation to my knowledge to be committed to communicating to the public about this issue, CEBRA in Denmark, who already involved key stakeholders, university students and members of the public. A big issue in the possible regulatory scenarios that these people put forward is the tension over internationally approved meat to be imported here, which they say is as heavy likely as the tension that will be created if homegrown cloning is introduced.
Is this something that is already hitting the consumer associations?
In the US there have been public surveys by IFIC and other institutions. Who’s (likely to be) doing it here?
I have previously published about the topic on www.globalpolitician.com.
